Druids And Professions In The World Of Warcraft

What professions do you use with your Druid? What are the best professions if you're toon is balance Balance, Resto or Feral? Are you going to focus on PvE or PvP or both and how can your professions be used to best boost your choice. I'll cover three basic setups that might be helpful for your Druid. Keep in mind that while you can only practice two of the "major" professions at a time you can always retrain to a different one (of course you'll start the new profession with a skill level of zero) if you need to. Whatever you choose to do be sure to start training on your professions ASAP. If you wait too long your profession skill will lag behind your toon level and therefore be less useful to you.

Your profession choice will reflect your overall playing style. Professions can get detailed and involved when it comes to looking for patterns, items, ingredients and materials (materials are called "mats" in-game) for specific items. Do you enjoy gathering and hunting for different items to create something? Or would you rather be in a cave somewhere bashing monsters?

If you approach professions simply as a method of gathering gold rather than getting pleasure from actually making items you may want to look into a couple of the gathering professions: Herbalism, Mining and Skinning. It's pretty straight forward - you gather a bunch of material "X" and sell it in the auction house. No need to gather a ton of different items and you can do these "on the fly" as you are out hunting either solo or in groups.

For the Restoration or Balance Druid a combination of Herbalism and Alchemy can be very beneficial. The ability to mix up a wide variety of potions can be a huge boon to your character a far as health, buffs and your mana pool and you can make a few bucks on the side selling some in the AH. This is not the ideal profession setup for a Feral Druid as, while in Cat or Bear forms, you can't use potions.

An obvious choice for all Druids is the Skinning/Leatherworking setup and therein lies some of the drawback. Lots of players practice this profession so there are often lots of items for sale therefore the sale price for standard leatherworking items is low (supply vs demand). However! This is something that you can make use of very early and once you get your skill level up you will be able to make some really good items, including Armor Kits. Armor kits are good stuff and you can make decent coin selling them to other players.

Your choice of profession will have an effect on your experience in the World of Warcraft. All of these will have a positive impact on your character increasing not only your capabilities and toughness but also will help you explore the huge world that is Azeroth! Have fun and get going!

The wotlk professions that you choose really depends entirely on what you want to accomplish.  Do you want to add extra character stats?  Do you want to make the maximum amount of gold?  Do you want to provide your services in trade channel banter? First choose which of these will be your primary goal.

Which Wotlk Professions Make Players Rich?

Since I went into this in a previous post I will keep this section fairly short.  Gathering professions will make you the most gold but take the most time since it requires hours of farming herbs, ore, skins, etc.  If you don't want to be a gatherer then the next best thing is Jewelcrafting.  Jewelcrafters have a skill that everyone needs and is always in high demand.  For maximum profits try matching mining with jewelcrafting.

Which Wotlk Professions Give the Best Bonus?

Again, this will depend on your end goal.  Are you wanting a bonus for pvp or pve?  Are you a melee class or a caster.  Are you primarily a tank, dps, or healer?  Each warcraft profession has its own special bonus so I recommend taking a look at all of them before settling in.  My favorite wotlk professions have always been Jewelcrafting for the specialty gems and tailoring for the spellpower to cloak enchant.  Although the spellpower enchant is a proc I've found it is active more times than not.  This combo has served well in pvp and pve content.

When Leveling Wotlk Professions What do the Colors Mean?

Many players are familiar with the orange, yellow, green associated with skill ups but most don't know what they mean exactly.  Orange means that you have a 100% chance of a skill up upon creating that item, yellow is a 50-75% chance, green is a 50% chance or less, and gray means there is no chance of a skill up.  Most of the time you are better off to go for yellow skills as opposed to green or orange though this isn't always the case.

Best Wotlk Professions for Alts

In my opinion leveling professions on alts is a necessary part of anyone's game plan if they plan on making a lot of gold in World of Warcraft.  I have an army of alts all with their own professions.  Keep in mind however, that an alt must be level 65 in order to learn Grand Master status.  Alchemy is a favorite of mine on alts for the transmute mastery skill.  Secondly, I keep an enchanter around to DE any items I may not want.  Not only is this is huge time saver but it will save you a load of gold when you are not having to buy mats off the auction house.

How do Wotlk Professions Fit into a Gold Making Strategy?

Its quite possible to make a load of gold in Wow without having a single profession at all.  How can you do this?  Its really quite simple.  First you need to understand a little bit about the average Wow gamer.  We are a lazy bunch.  We work hard and like to relax so when its game time we don't want to do anything that feels like a chore.  Take advantage of your fellow player's laziness!  For example, many times you can buy mats for an item cheaper than the item itself.  Simple advertise in trade you need a crafter and offer a generous tip.  They'll come running when they smell easy money and you can then re-list the finished item for profit.  Why don't they just do this themselves?  It all comes down to what we already talked about...laziness!  If you'd like to learn more about how to make loads of gold in World of Warcraft I'd suggest picking up a solid gold guide.

So many players have asked me this question in the months since Wrath of the Lich King first released.  Before Wrath it was the same question in Burning Crusade and before that it was the same with vanilla Wow.  So, which Wotlk professions will make you rich?

There are several wotlk professions that can make you rich but it really depends on your play style as to which you are going to choose.  Lets take a look at some in detail.  You can either choose a crafting profession or a gathering profession.

Gathering professions are the most profitable wotlk professions but also the most time consuming.  This is where your play style comes into play.  If you don't mind flying in circles to pick herbs or mine ore this is a great deal for you.  You can make upwards of 450g an hour with that simple strategy.  I have found that skinning doesn't do as well although you have the added bonus of loot from the mobs you are killing.

The other obvious choice you have are crafting professions.  Now, crafting professions themselves are more for character benefit via extra stats than making a profit.  With the majority of these you are either going to lose gold or make very little.  On the other hand if you choose to go with Jewelcrafting or Alchemy you actually can make some serious gold this way.  My first character to hit 100k gold was a level 80 warlock who was a Tailor/Jewelcrafter.  I initially power leveled those skills for arena purposes but soon found Jewelcrafting to be a gold mine.
