Build WOTLK Gold Farming, Best WOTLK Leveling Guide

If you have made it to the frozen lands of Northrend in the latest expansion of Wrath of the Lich king, you have probably noticed that life battling the Scourge can be a little on the expensive side. Everything, it would seem, cost quite a bit of gold, compared to other zones. So it's a good idea to review some of the fundamentals of gold farming in wotlk.

Gold farming in Wrath of the Lich King doesn't differ that greatly from other Blizzard expansions, except that players new to the zone can't use their flying mounts until they buy 'Cold Weather Flying' at level 77 at a cost of 1000 gold. Even then, many players struggle to farm this amount of gold and without a flying mount their gold farming strategies are limited to regions reached over ground.

A WOTLK gold farming tip that I always mention on my blog is to make sure that all your professions are maxed out before entering WOTLK . This is important if you're to take advantage of the Lich King gold making opportunities from both Gathering and Crafting professions available only after you reach Grand Master status (level 350). You'll also find it useful to have both Cooking and Fishing at Grand Master level to take advantage of the many cooking quests available in Dalaran.

You'll need to have reached at least level 350 in any of the above professions before training can begin. Below this level, you won't be able to loot any of the new ores, herbs or fauna in Northrend. Lower level mats, as found in Azeroth and Outlands, are not to be found here.

Gather Cloth

In the course of your travels through Northrend, you'll encounter many types of humanoid, many of whom can be looted for cloth. The new cloth in Northrend is Frostweave and is in great demand for First Aid and many of the crafts at Grand Master level. A stack of Frostweave cloth will earn you much gold in the Auction House.

Unlike the professions, the gathering of cloth requires no experience and can be achieved at any character level, providing you survive the encounter. Tailors have an advantage, though, via their ability to scavenge, which gives them a better chance to loot additional cloth.

Skinning For Profit

The one thing that will strike you when you first enter Northrend is the large number of game animals available for skinning and looting. Zones abundant in game are the Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord and Grizzly Hills. Skinning will make you a ton of gold by providing Borean Leather and Artic Fur.

If you are not a skinner, then looting game will provide you will some of the new meats in much demand by the cooks of Northrend. Be sure to collect Chilled Meat and Chunk o' Mammoth early on in the game to turn a quick profit.

Easy to Make WOTLK Gold Farming with WOTLK Leveling Guide

Since stepping foot on the Northrend, I've noticed how expensive things have become. Even a bowl of Northern stew will lose many gold in your bags. So you should to know how to play in there by using WOTLK leveling guide to do a little WOTLK gold farming.

Gold making in Wrath of the Lich King is the same trick as other parts of the game except that purchasing and trading to make gold now take place on a more epic scale with new and exotic materials harvested from the frigid snows of Northrend.

Players will want to purchase and trade these new things, just like in other parts of the game. Folks will be gathering and crafting as before and all this material will end up in Auction House where canny players in the know will look to turn a profit.

Level Your Professions with WOTLK Leveling Guide:

If you have one of the primary gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining, Skinning) and can be a net supplier of basic Northrend mats, then you'll make a ton of WOTLK gold farming, providing you have leveled your profession to that of Grand Master, that you can up level easily with the WOTLK leveling guide. To train to this level you'll need to visit one of the Grand Master trainers that can be found in one of the first landing zones of Northrend - Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord.

If you have prepared your gathering professions as I suggest, then you'll able to farm gold as soon as you step foot in Northrend. There are great WOTLK gold farming opportunities in both starter areas - Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord for both Horde and Alliance factions alike if you know where to look.

As a WoW Mage, a technique that I will tell with you comes as close to 'farming'. It involves rounding up a lot of types of roaming herds found in both starter area and using a combination of AOE spells to dispatch them. This technique is particularly profitable for those with the Skinning profession, but can also be used to harvest Northrend Meats which are in great demand from the WOTLK cooks.

Try this on the herds of Rhino that wander in large groups in the Borean Tundra, near and around the Horde settlement. The Rhino meat you'll farm sells well on the Auction House for use in the recipe 'Rhino Dog'.

#1 Best Farming Spot in Wotlk

What are the mobs you'll be killing?

Scions of Storm. This is my #1 Farming spot in WOTLK. Did you hear me? I'm telling you the #1 Farming Spot in WOTLK! There are some caveats, but if you have the right professions/class then nothing beats it, in fact I dare you to find something that does. We're talking 400 gold every half hour as a bare horrible minimum. As an engineer, miner, and ranged class you would easily clear 1000 gold an hour farming these Scions of Storm.

Let's analyze the Scions of Storm, shall we?
They are annoying in that they float around looking for the souls of Taunka to disturb... part of a quest but that doesn't really matter. They have a ranged spell which can be reflected/interrupted and when they die their bodies fall to the ground, making killing them at range obviously ideal. Also, there are around a dozen flying outside the cave that require some sort of ranged ability to pull, less you want to fall a mile to your death.

They drop crystallized airs 25% of the time and relics of ulduar 33% of the time. The standard elemental gray that they drop stacks so it is very difficult to fill your bags in this place (that's a good thing). You also receive the +50% movement speed that air elementals give you when they die and it helps your kills per hour tremendously.

I raked in 4.2 eternal airs, 50 relics of ulduar, and 35 gold in grays during a half hour farming session. That comes to 385ish gold for my server. If I was an engineer I would of nabbed two of the floating air nodes just outside the cave, and if I was a miner I would of mined atleast four saronite nodes while farming (more if they respawned in both cases). If I was ranged I would have killed them twice as fast, actually more like three times as fast.

So where is this spot?

Thottbot puts the location at 64,44 in Storm Peaks, but there are multiple entrances via a flying mount.

This is hands down the best grinding spot in the game for a ranged class that is also an engineer/miner (some hunters maybe?). If any of you fit this description then please try the spot out and let me know how much you can make per hour.

Why again is this the #1 best spot in WOTLK?

Here's a comprehensive list for the doubters:

1. As a miner you will get atleast 6 saronite nodes per hour farming session depending on respawns. Saronite is great because you can sell it as bars individually for 300% more than you would get for them in stacks of 20. This means you get a nice amount of bars but not so many that you can't sell them all at once.

2. As an engineer you will pick up probably 2-3 floating airs outside the cave every hour. That just adds to the number of eternals you will grab per hour and you will probably sell them all in a single night.

3. You will easily pick up relics of ulduar which sell great on all servers currently as the only purchasable way to increase your reputation with a faction in Northrend. 30-40% of your money farming here will come from selling these, so if they go for less than 3 gold on your server then your gold per hour will take a serious hit.

4. The kill rate is insane for ranged and you have +50% movement speed between kills, which makes for even faster killing.

See what I'm getting at? Minimum amount of time, maximum amount of profit. Just one hour of farming will net hundreds of gold that is practically gauranteed by every auction house on every server.

How will my giving away this spot change the economy?

Many of you are probably worried that giving away this great spot also ruins the market for Relics of Ulduar as well as Eternal Airs. Well fear not! Let me spell out exactly what is going to happen to wow economies across the world... of warcraft.

First off, players are going to farm here and gather thousands of relics of ulduar which will of course lower the price on the auction house. By being a smart auctioneer you can watch for when these prices get too low, buy them all out, then resell at more 'normal' prices. By taking advantage of peak play times you will be able to resell relics of ulduar for fantastic prices eventhough the market will soon become extremely competetive. As prices fall, your buying oppurtunites for resale are going to go way up, whereas right now there isn't enough competition to make buying for resale profitable."
